Out of Time

This piece received its name from the optical effect Rayleigh Scattering (pronounced ray-lee). The effect describes the scattering of shorter wave lengths of light as they interact with particles in the atmosphere. This effect gives the sky it’s blue color during the day and the Sun it’s red color during sunrise and sunset.
I like how this one feels out of time. Like something sitting in the back of a closet since the 70s. The longer I spend with this idea, of an object being out of time the more it appeals to me. It seems to resist the urgency of making here and now. So often art is pressured to be immediately relevant, or about some pressing topic. In reality, great work transcends its place in time.
